Texas Volleyball Named Big 12 Preseason Favorites

June 27, 2019

For the 12th time in program history and the ninth consecutive year, the Texas Longhorns were voted the favorite in the Big 12 for the upcoming 2019 season. The preseason poll is determined by league head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own team.

Since 2011, Texas has lost a total of seven conference matches for a record of 121-7 (.945), which included two perfect records of 16-0 (2013 & 2017).

Texas owned a 24-match win streak in conference play which was comprised of a perfect 16-0 record to cap off the 2017 season, as well as its seven wins to start out the 2018 season.

In team hitting percentage, the Longhorns led the nation last season with a .310 clip.

UT also had a presence in the preseason Big 12 individual awards as Micaya White garnered Preseason Player of the Year recognition for the second consecutive year, while rookie teammate Skylar Fields earned Preseason Freshman of the Year honors, alongside TCU’s Audrey Nalls.
