Tickets punched for PyeongChang:
After remarkable event performances this past week, including at the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships and U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Long Track Speedskating, 39 athletes were nominated to the U.S. Olympic Team across alpine skiing, bobsled, cross-country skiing, figure skating, skeleton and speedskating.

Alpine Skiing:
Mikaela Shiffrin added three world cup gold medals, winning giant slalom and slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia, and slalom in Zagreb, Croatia.

Beach Volleyball:
April Ross and Alix Klineman won gold at the Dela Beach Open in The Hague, Netherlands.

Biathlon:
Tim Burke secured a fourth-place finish in the men’s 10-kilometer sprint at the world cup in Oberhof, Germany.

Bobsled:
Jamie Greubel Poser and Aja Evans claimed the silver medal at the world cup in Altenberg, Germany.

Justin Olsen, Steve Langton, Chris Fogt and Evan Weinstock earned the silver medal in the European Cup four-man bobsled race in Igls, Austria.

Codie Bascue, Nate Weber, Carlo Valdes and Sam McGuffie finished ninth in the four-man bobsled world cup in Altenberg, Germany.

Cross-Country Skiing:
In Val di Fiemme, Italy, Jessie Diggins took third as Sadie Bjornsen finished ninth in 9-kilometer freestyle pursuit – the first time two Americans have cracked the Tour de Ski top 10.

Figure Skating:
Nathan Chen and Bradie Tennell were crowned the singles champions as Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue and Alexa Scimeca-Knierim and Chris Knierim won the ice dance and pairs event, respectively, at the U.S. Figure Skating National Championships in San Jose, California.

Freestyle Skiing:
Kiley McKinnon claimed her first aerials world cup win as Nik Seemann finished 10th in Moscow.

In moguls, Bradley Wilson and Casey Andringa finished sixth and seventh as Morgan Schild and Tess Johnson placed sixth and eighth at the world cup in Calgary, Alberta.

Luge:
The U.S. team relay squad earned its first world cup podium finish of the season with a silver medal, adding to the four other top-10 finishes Team USA earned in Koenigssee, Germany.

Skeleton:
Led by Katie Uhlaender’s gold and silver medals, and John Daly’s silver and bronze medals, Team USA garnered seven top-10 finishes at the Intercontinental Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

Speedskating:
Carlijn Schoutens, Joey Mantia and Brittany Bowe won multiple events at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Long Track Speedskating in Milwaukee, as six women and seven men qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team.

Also This Week:
Trent Frederic’s four goals led the U.S. Men’s National Junior Hockey Team to the bronze medal win, 9-3, over the Czech Republic at the IIHF World Junior Championship in Buffalo, New York…Taylor Heise scored twice as the U.S. Women’s National Under-18 Hockey Team topped Russia, 5-3, in its second game at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championship…With a sweep of gold medals by Dan Cnossen and Kendall Gretsch, seven athletes claimed medals in the sitting class of biathlon sprint, cross-country sprint and cross-country mid-distance races at the U.S. Paralympics Nordic Skiing Nationals in Bozeman, Montana.
