Cycling:
Connor Fields won gold at the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup in Heusden-Zolder, Belgium, marking his second podium finish in three events.

U.S. athletes secured 14 podium finishes, including three gold medals, at the UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup in Maniago, Italy.

Gymnastics:
Nastasya Generalova finished fifth and Serena Lu finished 10th in all-around at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Portimao, Portugal.

First-place routines from Eddie Penev (floor exercise) and Donnell Whittenburg (parallel bars) highlighted their performances at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Koper, Slovenia.

Rugby:
The Men’s Eagles Sevens finished fifth at the World Rugby Sevens Series in Paris.

Track and Field:
Highlighted by first-place finishes from Bershawn Jackson (400-meter hurdles), Noah Lyles (200) and Sam Kendricks (pole vault), U.S. athletes secured seven podium results at the IAAF Diamond League meet in Shanghai.

Cassie Mitchell (1,500) and Rachael Morrison (club throw) set world records at the Desert Challenge Games in Mesa, Arizona.

Triathlon:
Katie Zaferes and Kirsten Kasper placed second and third at the ITU World Triathlon Series stop in Yokohama, Japan.

Also This Week:
Tennis player Coco Vandeweghe (women’s singles) finished in the quarterfinals, while Jack Sock (men’s doubles) concluded play in the semifinals at the Madrid Open in Spain…With wins over Italy, Latvia and Slovakia, the U.S. Men’s National Ice Hockey Team improved to 6-1 at the IIHF Men’s World Championship in Cologne, Germany, which continues through May 21…The U.S. men’s epee team finished ninth, while Jacob Hoyle placed 13th at the Challenge SNCF Reseau in Paris…The U.S. women’s saber team placed ninth, while Dagmara Wozniak finished 12th at the FIE World Cup in Tunis, Tunisia…Sarah Robles and Caine Wilkes were among the 14 American weightlifters to earn titles at the national championships in Chicago…Fourteen American athletes have advanced to the Round of 32 at the Italian Open in Rome, which continues through May 21.
