The U.S. Men’s National Team continues play this week in the IIHF Men’s World Championship with a pair of preliminary round games in Cologne, Germany.

After winning three of its first four games in the tournament, Team USA had a two-day break before facing Latvia on Saturday and Slovakia on Sunday. The team’s final preliminary round game is Tuesday against Russia. The top four teams in each of two pools advance to the quarterfinal round.

The quarterfinals are May 18, followed by the semifinals on May 20 and the medal round May 21.

After beginning the tournament with a close 2-1 loss to host Germany, Team USA has won three straight games. Brock Nelson of the New York Islanders scored two goals in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Italy. Goalie Jimmy Howard of the Detroit Red Wings, a 2014 Olympian, earned his second win and first shutout, of the tournament.

Dylan Larkin, also of the Red Wings, had two assists against Italy and is the only U.S. player to have at least one point in each game.
